It is easy to braise pork chops, and easier to ruin them. You overcook, and it can get dry and hard. So how do we keep the chops moist, preserving its flavor? I made this cumin rub, and then glazed it with apple sauce, it was a great combination, try it!
What I used: Serves 4
4 boneless pork chops
½ cup finely chopped onions
3 tsp apple sauce
2 tsp butter
Seasoning:
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp red chili powder
½ tsp pepper powder
A pinch of turmeric
1 tsp garlic paste
Beat down the pork chops slightly with a meat tenderizer. Mix all the seasonings together and massage it into both sides of the pork chops, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes.
In a large skillet, add butter, on medium high, as it melts, add in all the pork chops and let them brown for a minute on each side. Flip them over, and then turn down the heat to low or low-medium, and cover. Cook them for 4 minutes on each side. I like it cooked all the way through, so I keep it for 6 minutes. Remove the chops and set aside on serving plates.
To the same pan add the chopped onions and let it brown for a minute. Pour in the applesauce and let it simmer. Mix it well and glaze the chops with the sauce. Serve hot. Enjoy!
