My sons and I love this movie. We have seen it a million times and it never gets old. This year, both the kiddos are officially teenagers, they are growing up fast, have gotten taller and stronger than me. But I keep telling them, Im short so that does not count lol. Made this cake as a memory treasure of all the times we spent watching movies, baking, all the sports practices, music lessons, vacations, and just staying home with each other.
Now, they have a lot of friends, are in the school sports teams and are super busy. I mean it in a good way. I like that they are independent and don't want me around all the time. Im just there to pick and drop them from school and sports practice, from their weekend hangouts and sleepovers. The one thing they still want me for is to make food and do their laundry. Oh, also to buy them all they need and all they want. Im blessed god has kept me in a good place today. Im self sufficient, I have time to work, pursue my passion, be with my kids and travel.
The pediatrician doc told me, if you think they are growing up fast, wait till they get to high school. It is true, weeks are just flying by. OK I can go on and on. I will stop here.
This cake was a white sponge with strawberry jelly filling. The cake is frosted with vanilla buttercream. The ocean and waves, the fondant pieces adorning the sides were all handmade. The three stars - Nemo, Dory and Squirt cake toppers were - guess! They were new bath tub rubber toys I got from Amazon! I know right, they look incredible right? I hope it inspires you to make a cake to recap your kids childhood days.
