Kids Lunchbox Idea: Chocolate Waffles With Honey

Chocolate waffles in the morning, is like dessert for breakfast. When these waffles are cooking on the griddle, they make the whole house smell divine, like an ice-cream store serving warm chocolate fudge! 

Yields 16- 4 inch waffles


1 and 1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder

2 eggs at room temperature

1 and 1/4 cup milk at room temperature 

2 Tbsp brown sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla essence

2 Tbsp butter or ghee, warm and melted

Whipped cream, and chocolate chips (optional)

Add the dry ingredients in a bowl. Set aside. 

Mix the wet ingredients, whisk well by hand or blend it in a smoothie jar. Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients and combine well to get rid of lumps. 

Let it sit for 5-7 minutes. In the meantime get the waffle grill nice and hot. 

Pour a ladle of waffle batter into the hot grill just a little below the brim lime and close. Let cook till brown and crisp. 

Serve with chocolate chips, honey, maple syrup, butter, whipped cream or fruit of your choice. Enjoy!
