Sugar Cookies recipe

These are my favorite go to cookies, when it comes to frosting, icing or covering with fondant. I hope you like it too.

What you need: Makes about 30 cookies, about 2 to 3 inches depending on which cookie cutter you use
3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup butter at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt

Whisk flour and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
Beat sugar and butter in a bowl on low speed. When the sugar dissolves, add in egg and beat on low until combined.

Add vanilla, beat on low, pour in flour gradually until combined. Once it gathers to a crumbly dough, pour the dough on to a floured surface. Knead gently to a dough. Pat it down to a disc and wrap in cling wrap. Freeze overnight.

Place the dough out in room temperature for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Roll the dough 1/2-inch thick and cut with your desired cookie cutter. Place the cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges begin to brown. Allow to cool to room temperature.

When the cookies are cool, prepare frosting and ice or glaze. Enjoy!
